~Letters received~

We sometimes receive a letter from someone who has been released from jail. I will start posting them here for you to read. I believe it will show their heart and perhaps change your outlook on the women who are imprisoned. Only first names will be used.

I need to tell you the story I tell the women in jail over and over - it helps them to distinguish between trust and faith... there is a difference.

The story will help you better understand a part of her letter.

"When things are going good it's easy to trust God. It's when things are going bad and we "trust" Him, that's when Satan is perplexed and God is most pleased with us.

To illustrate this I want you to pretend you are at Niagara Falls to watch a world renowned high wire walker push a wheel barrow over the falls.

You walk up to him and he ask you, "Do you believe I can push this wheel barrow on the high-wire stretched from one side to the other above the falls?"

You will say to him, "of course I believe it. I've faith in your ability to do it because I've seen you do it many, many times before."

That's faith - because you have seen him do it so many times before.

Trust, however, is getting into the wheelbarrow.

Can you trust God for your life and your circumstances? It's the hardest lesson a person has to learn but it's essential in our Christian walk that we learn this lesson! Without the "trust" factor we will be blown about by our feelings and circumstances.

Now on to the letter below - it's one I pray will give you hope in those who are in jail.

"I just want to thank you for being my mentors. It made (my time in jail) so much more bearable.
I won't ever forget your encouraging words and all the hugs and reassurances. You have all been an inspiration to me on my path to God. His amazing love for me has made me feel closer to Him.

Since yesterday I have put myself in that wheelbarrow, ready to cross Niagara Falls on that tight rope with God pushing me. Praise God! Thank you for that story!

Again, thank you for helping me get closer to God.

I pray for you all and am hoping your lives stay as blessed as mine is getting.

Thank you all for everything!

Your friend in Christ,
Kelli
